The Global Solar Council launched the GSC Technology & Innovation Forum at the Eilat-Eilot Renewable and Clean Energy Conference.
The event featured a high-level panel discussionand joint networking reception sponsored by Eilat-Eilot Energy, the Green Energy Association of Israel and the Global Solar Council. The event was conducted with the participation of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
“Solar energy will become the world’s main source of electricity and, for the sake of climate change mitigation, the sooner the better,” said Eitan Parnass, GSC Secretary and Director General of the Green Energy Association of Israel. “Our goal in creating the GSC Technology & Innovation Forum is to accelerate solar innovation and breakthrough technologies by strengthening ties between the solar industry, innovation and finance communities and government sector, including IRENA.”
“IRENA welcomes the initiative of the GSC to focus more on technology innovation. The private sector has a key role to play in broadening the field of applications, reducing technology costs even further and reshaping the power system to facilitate more rapid solar deployment and growth,” said Dolf Gielen, Director of Innovation and Technology at IRENA. Mr. Gielen moderated the panel session Solar PV Energy – Innovation for the Next Stage of Expansion, which included:
