For the sixth time, the International Youth Competition for Renewable Energy was held in the Arava.
Participants came from all over the world – Croatia, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Croatia, Cyprus, Slovenia, Romania and Israel.
This year the theme of the competition was biomimicry – science inspired by nature. The participants were divided into teams, designed and devised projects that would improve the world and make it more efficient and environmentally friendly in transport, energy, electricity, water and more.
Winners were announced at the closing ceremony: third place was the biofuel team, second was the team of silicon and organic liners for huge ship lining to prevent dirt, and in the first place the team of building houses with sensors to prevent breakdowns during earthquakes. Everyone was inspired by nature.
