Mr. Udi Gat was Eilot region head of council for 17 years. He is one of the founders of the “Sun Valley” vision and was one of the first to believe that renewable energy is the key to successfully develop the Eilot region, produce clean energy, attract new residents and create new jobs. With the paths he has paved, we have created a new unique reality making the Eilot region a national and international case study.
At the time Mr. Gat left office, the Eilot region manufactured 65% of the electricity being consumed from Eilat to Ha-Arava Junction, an area of more than 175 km. There are now 100 new job openings related to the field of renewable energy, as well as a technology hub which is working in the region, and a regional laboratory and research center. We also have to greatly thank Udi for supporting the establishment of Eilat-Eilot Initiative, which is both our home and our passion. For all these contributions and successes, we thank you Udi.
