Israel is a member of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) www.irena.org/
The organization has 105 countries as members and operates in all areas related to alternative energy, from solar energy, to win, geo-thermal and hyrdro. IRENA is active on all continents, placing its focus on Africa and the Pacific Islands.
Israel has been chosen to serve on the council in 2014 and we are currently exploring different ways to promote our activity alongside the organization, including information sharing, sending consultants and promoting projects in different countries. IRENA does not fund projects but can contribute to their realization in different ways, from its relationship with decision makers to providing aid in bringing funding.
A separate body, an entity belonging to the organization (with headquarters in Abu Dhabi) is the R&D unit in Bonn, Germany which can also help to raise funds for all issues relating to its area.
Companies interested in examining the potential for co-operation are invited to contact Michael Lotem, energy representative of the Foreign Ministry who also represents Israel at IRENA. You can contact him on 02-5303426 or 0506-203977.
