During the month of April, we hosted here in Arava, 30 engineering students from Afeka College. The group arrived as part of an off-grid technology oriented course that we have created with the help of a generous donation from the MEPI program of the US embassy. The course offered students a route into this growing sector and a chance for significant networking opportunity. The course is still running as part of the college semester and this tour was specifically built to provide the students opportunities to experience the varieties of renewable energy, off-grid technologies in the Eilot region. Despite the fact that the course was not credited in the college (and is not mandatory), all 30 places were applied to by more than 50 students. In light of the course’s success we hope to be able to produce additional educational courses with Afeka college and other academic institutes in the future.
