16 July 2025  | Israel’s renewable percentage of total energy production 9%

This summer almost half of the electricity consumption in Eilat and the Arava during the day will be provided by solar energy.

50MW of solar electricity will be connected to the grid in the Arava.

Kibbutz Ketura – 4.9MW from APC – connected to the grid for over a year

Kibbutz Yahel – 1.3MW on the rooftops of the kibbutz – independent investment – connected to the grid for over a year.

Rooftops of Kibbutz cow sheds – 1.6MW, 60% have been connected for 2 years, the rest will be connecting over the next month.

Rooftops of Eilat – 5MW   – connected to the grid

Kibbutz Grofit – 6.4MW from APC – nearing completion

Kibbutz Yotvata – 6.8MW from APC – nearing completion

Kibbutz Elifaz – 7MW from APC – nearing completion

Kibbutz Neot Smadar – 8MW – nearing completion

Old Timna mines – 6.7MW from “Shikun Ve Binui” – nearing completion

Kibbutz Samar – 11MW from EDF and Dalkia – construction will commence in the coming 2 months (Project ‘Osher’)

In light of these connections it was reported that the electricity company will reduce backup electricity operations through gas turbines in Eilat (currently operated by fuel oil) during day hours accordingly.
